Stillmoat
How can we help?
Planned launch: 1 Jan 2027. These answers describe Stillmoat as planned for launch.
Getting in
I forgot my PIN
From launch, you can enter your recovery key and set a new PIN. If you’ve lost both the PIN and the recovery key, your photos can’t be recovered, by you or by us.
Stillmoat asks for my PIN instead of Face ID
That’s by design. Face ID never falls back to your iPhone passcode, so when Face ID can’t confirm it’s you, Stillmoat asks for your own PIN instead. It also asks for your PIN after a face is added or your iPhone passcode is removed, and before sensitive changes in settings.
I typed the wrong PIN several times
After five wrong tries, Stillmoat makes you wait before the next one, and the wait grows from 1 minute up to 1 hour. It never erases your vault after wrong tries.
Import and export
How do I add photos and videos?
From launch, tap Import, choose photos and videos, and Stillmoat copies them into your vault. Afterwards it offers to delete the originals from Photos. Deleted photos stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days unless you empty it.
How do I take my photos out again?
From launch, you can export everything in one go, or a single item from its detail view, in original quality to Photos or Files.
Purchase
What is free?
Keep up to 50 items free. One payment unlocks unlimited imports. You never pay to see or export what you already added.
I bought it on another iPhone
Open Settings in Stillmoat and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles payments and refunds. Request one on Apple’s Report a Problem page.
Backup and new phones
How do I move to a new iPhone?
From launch, once your backup has finished, your backup and recovery key move your photos to a new iPhone. Stillmoat checks every photo and video arrived before it tells you the old phone can be erased.
Can I lose photos?
Yes, if backup is off, if iCloud is full, or if you lose your recovery key and also lose or reset your iPhone, delete Stillmoat, or forget your PIN. Backup comes with the launch, and Stillmoat will warn you about the first two.
Where is my recovery key stored?
Stillmoat shows it once, at setup, and never stores it. Keep it on paper or in a password manager that isn’t tied to the Apple Account that holds your backup. From launch, if you lose it, you can make a new one in backup settings with your PIN.
